Now you're happy with your book and people who have read it have enjoyed it. So what about the professionals?
Getting your work professionally edited can be costly, but well worth the price. I have found Bubblecow to be very helpful and accommodating in this respect. If you do not want to pay up front for the whole manuscript you do not need to. I would suggest getting, say, the first three chapters edited initially. You will learn so much from what is said about those chapters that you will be able to go through your whole manuscript putting in place what has been pointed out as needing attention. Not only do you get an overall opinion about your work, but a line-by-line edit which will pick up any bad habits you may have with grammar, punctuation etc. This is an outstanding service from a friendly and supportive team.
There is also a wealth of information on their website - How to write a good synopsis, creating a productive sales letter, and much, much more. Its well worth visiting their site. Most of their tutorials are free.
Testimonials say:
- Friendly advice and professional copy editing service at a reasonable cost. I also liked the way Gary makes himself available via emails and chat.
- Good copy editing.
- Invaluable detailed analysis.
- Caroline’s copy editing and comments have given me much needed confidence in my writing ability, and the confidence to approach agents once I’ve completed all her suggestions in the edit. I have also hugely improved my understanding of the publishing business by reading all the interesting links that Bubblecow provide on my facebook and twitter page.
